Scope & Sequence Charts
for Green Series and Blue Series
Code Reader books assume a certain level of decoding skill, as well as some knowledge of irregular and high-frequency words. There are two levels of Code Reader books, the Green Level Series and the Blue Level Series. Each level can be identified by a green or blue logo on the cover. Each level assumes certain decoding skills and high-frequency word knowledge—and the books provide abundant opportunity to practice the skills and words appropriate to each level.

Sound/Phoneme Keys for Phonetic Codes
Code Reader books provide phonetic codes to help read challenging words. The codes use dashes between syllables and emphasized syllables are capitalized. The codes use a limited number of “sound keys” to represent the phonemes used in pronouncing words. Reviewing these sound keys with students will help them in using the codes provided for the challenging words.
